Abstract:By using the coupling model of finite and infinite elements and wave input procedure presented in [1], the effects of canyon shape on scattering phenomena of ane SH wave is studied in this paper. It is concluded that evident effects of different width-height ratio and shape of the canyon on SH wave scatterings have been observed. The effects are even more significant for higher frequency harmonic waves incoming horizontally to the narrower canyons. The rssults is meaningful for study of free field motion distribution during earthquakes.
