Abstract：This paper presents the empirical formulas for estimating pile bearing values based on static cone penetration resistance. The empirical formulas have been worked out on the basis of the data of static cone tests and the results thus calculated compared with those from vertical static loading tests on 118 reinforced concrete driven piles, in Shanghai and Similar Soft soils in Eastea China coastal regions, and also the results for estimating pile bearing capacity have been discussed.
