Process of hydraulic gradient in silt during penetration of bucket by suction

Abstract:Pore water pressures were measured at different depths during penetration by suction of five buckets with different material and size in the silt, the hydraulic gradients in the silt were calculated. Changing process of the hydraulic gradient was shown during penetration by suction. The results of the experiments showed changing of the silt property after penetration, this should be considered for the design of the buckets.
