Abstract：The deformation properties of CFRD (concrete face rockfill dam) are studied through centrifuge tests by building concrete cover plate on the alluvium foundation. Three centrifugal model tests are conducted for the purpose of exploring the influences of dam after building concrete cover plate on the alluvium foundation with different materials. The relationship between construction period and storage period of diaphragm wall is conducted. The test results show that the cover plate can reduce the settlement of the dam and reduce the uneven settlement of the dam. The distribution laws of bending moment of the cover plate is consistent after adding cover plate on different alluviums. But the bending moment of the cover plate on the soft cover is larger. The bending moment of cutoff wall is optimized after adding cover plate. The centrifugal model tests reveal the deformation and stress distribution of the new structure of the concrete face rockfill dam, and it may provide the basis for the research and design of CFRD on deep overburden layer of new structure.
